Objective of CorbaMan

"CorbaMan provides a management framework
for managing and controling various CORBA-based distributed services and applications."

CorbaMan Overview

CorbaMan is a management framework which is designed and developed in DPE Lab, POSTECH, Korea. The management framework allows service developers to instrument management interfaces to their service objects and service managers to monitor and control the objects through various management services.
  • CorbaMan Framework Architecture

  • CorbaMan Components

CorbaMan consists of management services, management interfaces and management information.

    • Management Interface
A management interface is instrumented in each service object. It extracts management information from its service object and provides it for management servers.

    • Management Information
General Information Group Server Name, Host Name, Executable, Owner, Protocol, Version, Last Update Time, Last Start Time, Status, Platform, Language
Operational Statistics Group Current In-bound Associations, # of Received Requests, # of Request Errors, # of Recieved/Sent Bytes
Object Information Group # of Objects, ObjMIO Reference Table
Resource Information Group CPU Utilization, Memory Space, # of Child Processes, # of Threads, # of IPC

    • Management Services
      • Configuration Management Service
Configuration management service is responsible for managing containment, relationships among servers, objects and clients, and attributes of each server and each object.
      • Fault Management Service
Fault management service is responsible for providing a reliable service environment by catching and notifying events and faults from servers.
      • Performance Management Service
Performance management service is responsible for providing an efficient service environment by analyzing the behaviors of servers and calculating the performance data of each server.
      • Security Management Service
Security management service is responsible for providing a secure environment by controlling the access on services and information.
